Cancel culture (literally), collagen glow-ups, and the comeback of fibre - it’s wellness, decoded 💻✨

Your weekly dose of what's hot, what's healing, and what's actually worth leaving the house for!

Hi lovely,

Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating — we hope your long weekend has brought a little more rest, connection, and space to just be 🌙✨.

We’ve also had lots of gorgeous new subscribers join The Wellness Drop recently (hello and welcome! 👋), so it feels like a good time to re-ground in what we’re doing here.

The Wellness Drop is your weekly scroll through what’s hot, what’s healing, and what’s actually worth your time in the wellness world — especially here in Dubai. Think trusted recommendations, thoughtful curation, and real-life wellbeing that feels nourishing, not overwhelming.

Which brings us to something we read this week that really got us talking.

A job ad from a boutique U.S. agency raised some attention for saying:

“If you prefer a clock-in, clock-out mentality, we’re not a good fit.”
“Specific work hours don’t matter when you're hungry to grow.”

It might sound ambitious at first, but between the lines? It’s the same old hustle culture, dressed up in new language — still glorifying long hours, blurred boundaries, and burnout in the name of “growth.”

Katie & I have both lived that rhythm before - always on, always achieving - until we realised: feeling good isn’t something you earn after you’ve done enough. It has to be part of the process.

That’s the heartbeat of The Wellness Drop.
We’re here to make wellness feel like a support system - not another thing on your (never ending) to do list. A way to protect your energy, reconnect with yourself, and find joy in the middle of real, full, modern life. To offer a softer place to land in a world that still rewards running on empty.
No pressure, no perfection. Just thoughtful recommendations, real research, and weekly reminders that your well being actually matters.

So whether you’re here for the rituals, the research, or just a reminder to breathe — we’re so glad you’re with us. Truly.

With love,
Harriet & Katie x

📍 Samadhi Wellness - Jumeirah 3

We originally thought Samadhi was just a beautiful yoga studio. Boy, were we wrong.

Tucked away in the heart of Jumeirah, Samadhi isn’t just a space - it’s a full-blown sanctuary. Think: spa, salon, café, pool, movement studio and energy-healing hub all rolled into one. It’s the kind of place you walk into and instantly exhale.

The vibe is grounded luxury. Natural textures, neutral tones, and design that’s been thoughtfully curated down to the last detail. Whether you’re arriving for a dynamic Vinyasa class (Alicia is a must-try), a restorative sound healing session (Liv is our go-to), or simply to journal in the garden post-matcha, you’re met with a sense of calm that lingers long after you leave.

A dream day here? Start with yoga in the studio, followed by a slow moment in the sauna or sun by the pool (when it’s not too hot). Refuel with a nourishing bowl or juice from the café (their menu is so much more than your usual wellness fare), then head for an Aveda blow-dry that somehow lasts the entire week. Add a facial or Ayurvedic massage to the mix and… well, cancel the rest of your plans.

It’s a place to come home to yourself. To soften, reconnect, and just be.

🥊 David’s Controversial Key Ingredient
New kid, big splash. Last week, David - the high-protein bar brand from RXBAR founder Peter Rahal - raised $75M and bought fat alternative maker Epogee. Now? They’re being sued for allegedly cutting off rivals’ access to its star ingredient, EPG. The bars pack 28g of protein, zero sugar, and use EPG (a rapeseed oil-derived fat replacer) to cut calories. Biohacker faves like Huberman and Attia love it - but critics say ultra-processed swaps miss the point of real health.
Our take? This one's splitting wellness Twitter like a cold protein bar. Functional macros? Sure. But ultra-processed fat mimics in your midday munch? Chew with caution. 🍫⚖️

💰 Are We Being Priced Out of Wellness?
Wellness is in - but for many, it’s out of budget. According to NielsenIQ, 54% of people say high prices are the biggest barrier to healthier choices. And while over half are willing to pay more for well-being, there’s a real lack of effective, affordable options. The shift? Consumers want smart, trustworthy solutions that don’t cost a fortune. Think less luxury, more everyday essential. Nearly 40% believe brands have a duty to make healthy products just as accessible as the junk.
Bottom Line: Wellness shouldn’t be a VIP club. Brands that lower the cost without lowering the bar? That’s the real flex. 💸🧃

🧾 Equinox Hit With $600K Fine for Tricky Cancellations
If you've ever tried to quit Equinox and felt like you needed a lawyer (and a lie down), you're not alone. The luxury gym giant just agreed to pay $600,000 after New York’s Attorney General ruled it made canceling memberships way too complicated. The issue? Hidden terms, no clear cancellation process, and a maze of fine print. Now, Equinox must simplify its policies, issue refunds to eligible members, and make unsubscribing actually doable.
Our take? Wellness should never come with lock-in contracts and legalese. Sweating? Fine. Sweat trying to cancel? Not so much. Dubai establishments- take note.🏋️‍♂️📉

🧪 RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT

🌾 Why Fibre Deserves More Hype
We know it’s not the sexiest wellness topic… but fibre is seriously underrated. A new large-scale review found that eating more of it is linked to a 22% lower risk of developing cancer, and a 17% drop in cancer-related mortality.
The biggest benefits showed up in gut health (no surprise there), but it also offered major protection across gynaecological and hormonal conditions too - even showing positive links for breast health.
Takeaway? Fibre isn’t just about digestion — it’s a low-lift, high-impact daily habit that’s totally worth the hype. 🌾✨

🔮 TREND TO WATCH

🍄The Mushroom Takeover
From brain fog fixes to dewy skin, mushrooms are everywhere right now - and not just on your pizza. Functional fungi are sneaking into coffee blends, serums, and supplements promising everything from sharper focus to better immunity. We’ve been trialing LOAM ourselves - an organic, dual-extracted mushroom powder using ultrasonic tech to pull the good stuff straight from the fruiting body (seriously exceptional sourcing & no grainy fillers or weird additives). And honestly? We’re impressed.
Our take? Not every wellness trend is worth the hype… but we’re happily riding this shroom wave. 🍄🌊
