Inside Dubai’s Most Advanced Detox Treatment + Your Christmas Wellness Gift Guide

Your weekly dose of what's hot, what's healing, and what's actually worth leaving the house for!

Hi friends,

The city is in full festive swing and we are officially giving in to the cosy season. Before we all slide into that gentle December haze, we have two little treats for you.

First up, our Christmas Gift Guide has landed. It is packed with the wellness products Katie and I genuinely love, use and swear by… plus a few things sitting firmly on our own wish lists. (And yes, there are plenty of discount codes sprinkled in!)

Click here to have it sent straight to your inbox.

And secondly, a little update from us. Katie and I will be taking a short break over the holidays, so this will be our last newsletter for a few weeks. With Katie due in early January, I’ll be holding down the fort while she soaks up those precious newborn days. Our Instagram will still be very much alive, so stay close there for updates and little wellness moments over the break. And we already have some very cool events lined up for the start of the year, so keep an eye out – you will not want to miss them.

As always, we are so grateful to have you here. Wishing you a beautiful festive season - whether you are celebrating or simply slowing down - may you rest, reconnect with your people, and give yourself the ease you deserve.

With love (and a gentle nudge to truly switch off this season),

Inuspheresis Treatment at Dr Ozone Clinic - Healthcare City

If you live in Dubai, you will understand this on a soul-deep level: the toxin load here is no joke. Between environmental pollutants, mould exposure, heavy metals in water systems, pesticides… our bodies are doing a lot behind the scenes. And if, like me, you’re missing the glutathione gene (hi fellow poor detoxers), that load hits even harder.

So this week’s Spotlight is on a treatment I’ve been quietly eyeing up for months: INUSpheresis® at Dr. Ozone Regenerative Medicine Clinic, the only certified INUS provider in the entire Middle East. This is considered one of the most advanced plasma purification therapies in the world, designed to remove disease-promoting substances right at the cellular level.

And honestly… it was such an incredible experience.

A behind-the-scenes look at what INUSpheresis actually removes.

What is it and what actually happens?

INUSpheresis® works by drawing blood from the vein, separating the plasma, passing it through medical-grade filters that remove harmful compounds, and returning it back to the body. These filters pull out the things that chip away at long-term health:

• heavy metals like mercury, aluminium and lead
• pesticides and environmental toxins
• inflammatory proteins (CRP, IL-6, TNF-α)
• oxidised fats linked with cardiovascular issues
• virus fragments and harmful exosomes
• autoimmune antibodies in immune-related conditions
• microplastics (yes… really)

It is used clinically for everything from long Covid fatigue and autoimmune conditions to fertility support, chronic inflammation, and performance optimisation. The results after a single session can be significant, and the treatment is safe, non-surgical and well-studied.

The full appointment is around 2–3 hours, with the filtration process itself taking about 1.5 hours. You have an IV in each arm, so there’s no scrolling, no laptop, no busy-ness. Instead, you are forced into the type of stillness most of us say we want but never actually create. I curled up under a blanket, listened to music, chatted, and enjoyed the most heavenly foot massage while the device quietly did its thing. Bliss.

But how did I feel?

Honestly, so much clearer. Lighter. More awake in my mind. For someone who doesn’t detox efficiently on her own (I have a complete deletion of the gluthathione gene meaning my body needs extra support with detox), this felt like giving my body a proper reset. I’m getting my blood work done this week, so it will be interesting to see what shows up there, but the subjective difference was immediate.

And I need to say this: in a city like Dubai, where the pace is high and the environmental stressors are real, this feels like one of those treatments that sits in that sweet spot where luxury meets longevity. You’re literally purifying your plasma while having a foot massage. Peak wellness bestie behaviour.

The investment

At 15,000 AED, this is not an inexpensive treatment. It is definitely in the “considered choice” category. But truly, health is wealth, and I don’t know about you, but I would rather invest in this than in a Chanel handbag sitting in my wardrobe while my nervous system and cells are quietly struggling.

The amazing team at Dr. Ozone are also offering 10% off for all TWD readers with the code TWDOC2511. To book, please message Haseeb on +971 54 309 1326 and mention the code.

Final thoughts

If you’ve been curious about advanced detoxification, inflammation support, fertility optimisation, recovery, or simply giving your system a deep clean, this is one to put on your radar. Dr. Ozone Clinic also offers a full medical review beforehand, and the team are beautifully warm, gentle and thorough.

More to come once my blood results are in, but for now: this is one of the most interesting treatments I’ve tried in Dubai. And my body is thanking me for it already.

🛏️ Meet Luma: Your New AI Sleep Coach (Who Actually Knows Your Patterns)
Sleep Cycle has stepped firmly into the AI coaching world with Luma, a conversational sleep coach built on more than a decade of real sleep science and billions of nights of data. Instead of just showing you how badly you slept, Luma translates those graphs into clear explanations, personalised nudges, and step-by-step coaching that adapts to your habits, stressors, pets, partners and everything in between. It uses statistical modelling to cut through the noise, only accesses your stored data when you choose, and keeps privacy at the centre of the whole experience. In short, it is the closest thing to having a sleep lab and a behavioural scientist in your pocket, minus the judgement.
Our Take: AI is coming for your bedtime routine, but in a cosy, quietly transformative way. If you love data but hate deciphering it, Luma might be the coach that finally bridges the gap between knowing your patterns and actually sleeping better.

🧪 Noom Just Launched an AI Tool That Shows You Your Future Face (If You Dare)
Noom, the behaviour-change app best known for coaching people through healthier habits, has teamed up with Haut.AI to launch Future Me - a generative AI tool that predicts how your skin might age over the coming decades based on your lifestyle choices. Using Haut. AI’s new SkinGPT model, it estimates your current “perceived age,” then gives you eerily realistic visuals of how your face could evolve depending on sleep, sun, stress, nutrition and more. It is basically a dermatology time machine, blending wellness data with beauty tech just as the skin longevity market hits full acceleration. Noom is available in the UAE (although features tend to roll out in phases), so expect this to land here soon. Whether it becomes a powerful motivator or a mild existential crisis… that part is up to you.
Our Take: Look, we love innovation, but the one thing we’re not handing over to AI is the privilege of telling us how we’re going to age. Strong boundaries.

🌙 Emm Wants to Make Menstrual Health Measurable
UK startup Emm has raised $9M to launch a smart menstrual cup that tracks flow rate, volume and regularity with medical-grade sensors, turning cycle data into early signals for issues like endometriosis. It rolls out in the UK next year before expanding globally, with plans for diagnostics, digital care and personalised treatment tools. And it fits a bigger shift: menstrual health is moving from vague symptom logging to real biomarkers. Hormona is testing hormones at home, Eli Health uses saliva, YON E tracks vaginal pH, and Withings and Oura are syncing with Clue to map hormonal changes more accurately.
Our Take: Menstrual intelligence is finally having its moment and honestly, it is about time the tech caught up with the experience half the population has been navigating blind.

🇦🇺 Australia Just Banned Under-16s From Major Social Platforms
From 10 December, Australia is enforcing a nationwide ban preventing under-16s from using TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, X and more - with existing accounts deactivated and new ones blocked. The move follows a government study showing almost every teen is online and widely exposed to harmful content, grooming attempts and cyberbullying. Rather than penalising kids, the pressure is on tech companies, who face hefty fines if they cannot keep underage users out. Enforcement will rely on age-assurance tools like ID checks and behavioural age inference.
Our Take:  It will not be perfect, but it is a bold attempt to stem the mental health fallout of unrestricted online access.  Long overdue, and we are firmly here for it.

🔮 TREND TO WATCH

☕ Coffee Is Becoming the New Wellness Drink
After years of being dismissed as a guilty pleasure or a nervous-system villain, coffee is stepping into the wellness spotlight. New research is reframing it as a surprisingly supportive daily ritual, with studies linking regular intake to reduced risks of heart rhythm disorders, type 2 diabetes and even improvements in gut and immune health. The narrative is shifting from “cut back” to “be intentional” - quality beans, cleaner brewing, and pairing your cup with protein or fibre to steady blood sugar. Instead of trying to replace coffee with endless substitutes, the trend now is making your morning cup work with your body, not against it.
Our Take: Look, we know - one week coffee is bad for you, the next it’s a superfood. The truth sits somewhere sensible: the science leans heavily in favour of coffee’s benefits, but everyone’s biology is different. If it makes you jittery or anxious, your genetics may not metabolise caffeine well - so choose something gentler. Otherwise, enjoy your cup with zero guilt.

🔬RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT

🔥 The Biggest Cardiovascular and Immune Boost? It’s Not the Sauna…
A new peer-reviewed study from the University of Oregon compared hot water immersion, traditional dry sauna and infrared sauna to see which one delivers the strongest cardiovascular and immune benefits. The runaway winner? Hot water immersion. Forty-five minutes in 40.5°C water raised core temperature almost three times higher than both saunas, produced the biggest jump in cardiac output, and triggered measurable increases in IL-6, NK cells and CD8+ T-cells - a clear immune activation response. Traditional sauna still performed well, but nowhere near immersion. Infrared barely shifted core temperature under these conditions. But infrared has its own strengths. It is gentle, deeply relaxing, brilliant for circulation and chronic pain, and ideal for longer, low-stress sessions - it just is not built to create the thermoregulatory challenge needed for the outcomes this study measured.
Bottom Line: For maximum physiological adaptation, hot water immersion takes the crown. For a ritual you can stretch, breathe and unwind into, sauna stays queen. And if you needed permission to run a gloriously hot bath tonight… consider it research-backed.
